fall formal if you aren't a freshman
by: fall for sophs?so one of my biggest regrets this year is not sticking through fall formal (dropped after the first day because I couldn't handle it on top of school work). Now I really want to do it again but I don't know what it'll be like to rush as a sophomore. Can someone give me a little insight? do any sororities even take sophomores? I am really serious about joining one! thanks!

Definitely do it again if it's what you want! Being older, you will have to be much more open to all the houses-- honestly there are great people in every house.
Here's what I can tell you about rushing as a sophomore: the quota each house has to fill is broken down by freshman/sophomore and then junior/senior. For sophomores, this means many houses will cut you in favor of freshman. For example, I know freshman who were called back to houses whose parties they didn't attend and many sophomores who attended every house are cut from almost half of them. Don't take it personally and keep an open mind!
Each house can take sophomores, and usually there are at least a handful, but no one can tell how many they will take. Good luck!

Hi! I rushed as a sophomore, and I'm really glad I did. First comment explained things pretty well. Honestly, it's a bit harder as a sophomore, so be prepared to be dropped from the "top" houses after the first day. All sororities take sophomores, but certain tend to mainly take sophomore legacies or girls who have strong connections with the house. With that being said, keep an open mind and do your best. Plus, you have almost an entire semester to make friends in sororities you could potentially end up joining!!

If you don't mind me asking, which house are you in? :)
