got dropped from hella sororities, need advice
by: sadbearI'm a sophomore who just dropped from fall recruitment. Yesterday I was invited back to a bunch of houses that I thought could be a good fit for me, including kappa, DG, SK, ADPi, and chi O. I was dropped from every one of those houses for philanthropy night, leaving me only with houses that I couldn't see myself in. I'm pretty bummed but at this point I realize there's not a whole lot I can do about it right now. My question is, what do I do from here to end up in one of these houses in the future? I know some of these houses often do spring rush, but which ones? Any other advice would also be super appreciated.

My advice would have been not to drop and to stick it out till at least pref and try to keep an open mind. You only are committed to not rush for a year if you accept a bid card. But you probably went in set on a "top house". If NONE of them saw you as a good fit now, chances are they won't see you as a good fit in the spring.

The houses that spring rush are usually the ones that don't meet numbers in the fall... so most of the houses you listed will probably only be taking a few if any new members. It's much more laid back but typically much more competitive for bids among the top and upper-mid houses (if they're even doing spring). For instance AXO is usually considered lower mid and my friend who's there said they had less than five bids to give in the spring but like 100 girls doing house tours.

If they didn't want you now, they're probably not going to want you in the spring. Houses do remember who's gone through before believe it or not. It would be one thing if you had your heart set on one house. But it sounds like you only wanted any "high ranked" house. And they all dropped you. If it was one house. I'd say better luck next time. But all? Unless there's something drastically weird that you can change back to more normal (do you have bright green hair right now maybe?) I don't think your chances will improve much in spring for the houses you want. I think you need to examine why you want to go greek in the first place and whether your desire to be in one of those houses outweighs being greek (the social scene, the friendships and opportunities) in general.
