I have no idea why DG is ranked so highly either, I didn't like them that much and neither did a lot of girls in my group

Because these "official" rankings aren't real. Some houses are more popular than others, but that varies from year to year. There are houses like DG that are still riding the wave of when they were more popular and people who believe the Greekrank postings still give them credit for being a "top" house. You need to decide what group you like for yourself and quit worrying about these inaccurate rankings.
