depends on the frat. If you come in with other cute girls and u aren't that cute they will probs let you in. it also depends on what time you come, if they're over capacity, if it's a top tier frat, etc. For the most part if its a mid/lower tier frat, you come before they're over capacity & you look decent, they'll let you in. That's been my general experience. but there is a lot of variance...its def harder to get in to popular parties if you dont have connections/ a bid

In all honesty, I think that is kinda sick, turning people away and stuff. It's turning me off of the whole Greek system, since it's obviously extremely superficial (hierarchies, ranking based off attractiveness...) it's all just feeding some people's egos and destroying others' self-esteem. I thought Berkeley Greeks would be different, but I guess not.

You shouldn't listen to the people on this site, it really is the same people posting over and over again. The thing written about getting into parties is true to an extent, but if you want to party and are not "super hot" you can find ways. Plus, Greek Life isn't all about the parties.
If i were you, I would got through recruitment and see how it goes. You don't have to pledge anywhere if you don't like it. My experience is that the lower tier houses place less emphasis on looks, so if you're worried about that, you could focus on getting into one of those.
Don't be discouraged by this site, its all gossip.
#495by: @ re, RE,etc.
All the houses (even the most bottom house) place an emphasis on looks though. You have to be decent looking (groomed and what not) to get a bid from any house. Sorry, but that's the truth. Not every below average student can just rush (not that they do) and expect to be given a bid. If you are not that cute looking, you need a great personality.

going off of what other people have said below. truth is no one really cares what house you are in. If you're hot no guy is gonna not let you in because you are in one of the lesser sororities. look cute and join the house where you feel the most compatible personality-wise with the other girls. you will get a feel for this during rush
#498by: GOOD ADVICE
IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING RUSHING: don't pay attention to this site. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to join a house because you've heard they have a reputation as being one of the better ones when in reality you don't like any of the girls. YOU WILL NOT ENJOY IT. First hand experience. Join a house THAT YOU LIKE. Don't be fooled by the superficial, reputation-based rankings on these site because they are actually irrelevant when it comes down to it
#499by: Re: good adivce
I totally agree with the post below. no one really cares about ranks except for the top houses. the general student population couldn't care less. After being in a "top house" for 2 years I wonder if I made a good decision. Being in a top sorority has been a huge confident booster and i have met some amazing people but it's pretty exhausting keeping up with these girls. This house isn't providing me with the things I had hoped i'd find in a sorority, and I think I woud have enjoyed a different house even it if it is ranked lower. i honestly feel like a different house wouldve been a better fit for me.
