sorority comments

EACH House has at least one girl representing them via their Recruitment Counselor. They're temporarily disaffiliated, and all PNM's will be assigned an RC who will act as a guide throught the recruitment process. (Note you cannot know what house she is in). JUST KNOW That SHE IS a sister at some house, and her house is STILL THE most important thing to her during recruitment. If you are DISRESPECTFUL to ANY HOUSE during recruitment purposely so you dont get invited back, the house will tell their sister who is an RC, who will tell your RC who will TELL OTHER HOUSES, who WILL DROP YOU without hesitation. This happens frequently. My big sister was an RC last fall.

If you dont like a house, ask to use the bathroom, and take your time in there. Its seen as more polite than being disgustingly rude. Dont be rude, its more exchausting for them than it is for you, trust me. The ladies in the sorority spend weeks preparing, from doing camps, to practicing house tours, to cleaning, etc.

Don't let your age discourage you. The top houses do take mostly freshmen but I personally know junior transfers that have gotten bids. Being a transfer is actually better than just being a junior too! The middle houses don't really judge on age so you should at least get into one of those. 90% ending in the bottom 4 houses is a huge exaggeration.

Why should being a transfer be better than being a regular junior? And saying "you should at least get into one of those" about middle houses is not really appropriate because they aren't THAT easy to get into.

Being a transfer, esp from a JC, you've had no opportunities to rush before. Juniors at Cal who wait 'till then are looked down upon: Why wait until junior year, you've been here 2 years? Also, as a junior, try and get a rec for houses you are interested in. Go onto each chapter's website and see their policies on recs, they should all accept them. Then try and contact the local alum chapter of that sorority, and see if someone can write you a rec. If you know anyone who is an alum of THAT sorority, they can write you a rec.

When I said "you should at least get into one of those" I meant that if you were meant for the top houses but don't get a bid soley because you are a junior (but otherwise would've probably gotten one from a top house) you shouldn't have a problem getting into a middle house. Sorry I didn't word that well! And yes being a transfer is way better than being a normal junior. They want people that are new to Cal and can make the sorority their home. If you've been at Cal for 2 years you probably already have a niche and won't put as much into the sorority. If you aren't a transfer be ready to have a reason for why you waited to rush, I'm almost 100% sure they will ask you why during rush!

This site makes the WHOLE greek system look shallow and catty. Let's try and not scare off PNMs. Really, if you are reading this, a lot of this is coming from a few girls, these mean comments DON'T reflect the majority of sorority life at Cal.

A lot on this site is not accurate especially the mean comments! A lot of the comments are biased and are opinions that most people don't agree with. Let rush determine how you feel about the houses!

That comment below is so true. Also that guys only rate sororities on looks too when there is a lot more to it.

Agree w/ below. ADPi is going to be hit hard with all the hazing rumors...and there is a new sorority coming to campus too, will they automatically be bottom because they'll get the last pick?
