sorority comments

Apparently somehouses give gifts to new members? Anyone know anything about this, and what some of the new member periods at some of the houses consist of? Is it hazing? Or rituals? Or bonding activities? What are some of those activities?

Gifts are pretty common in the pledging period. Usually from bigs to littles, either anonymously or not. I think most of the houses do this, although I hear rumors that Alpha Phi excludes girls that they don't deem worthy, and that ADPi isn't really into big/little gifting. Don't take my word for that though, it's rumors and I can't say for sure.

the new member period is also called the pledging period. varies from house to house, some focus on sisterhood activities while some are less focused on that. also there are some claims of hazing going around. it's commonly believed that adpi and pi phi haze hard, which is very uncommon among sororities, unlike fraternities. aside from hazing, houses i know have strong sisterhood/big+little kinds of things are most of the bottom and middle houses, with the exception of alpha phi and maybe adpi. ask around for more info.

Out of all sororities this is how ADPi compares, in my honest opinion. I don't know if the hazing stuff is true or not, so I have disregarded it in my rating (otherwise I'd give them a 1 in classiness). Below average in looks. Has more minorities than people think. They have a nerdy vibe, but also the highest or second highest GPA. They are little involved and don't go out and party a lot even though their house has a prime location, in the middle of the row. Their actual house appears beautiful on the outside (people say it looks like the snow white house) but they have sleeping rooms for 10-15 girls, while the other houses have double, triples and quads like the dorms.

Out of all sororities, this is how Theta compares, in my honest opinion. Great personalities BUT not pretty or social, sorry. They have a super large house, but it's not on the row (closer to campus though)

Out of all sororities this is how DDD compares, in my honest opinion. Not hot, but they aren't the bottom house because they at least get involved, party and tend to be fun and relatively nice girls. Agreed, the "easy reputation" is not totally true, but there is some validity to it. Their actual house is on the modern looking side, but located behind I-house...

Out of all sororities this is how GphiB compares, in my honest opinion. They are still below average out of the houses in looks (but definitely better than they used to be). They have a lot of minorities. They are more visible than they used to be as well because they get involved, party and proudly rep their letters. They seem to have one of the strongest sisterhoods, and during the pledge period these girls are showered in gifts. Some of them come across as rude and lacking in etiquette, but that is really just a few girls. Their house is next to ADPi, on the row, which is a plus for them.
