Just remember that all Sororities have parties with Frats. The social scene in Greek life is what you make of it. I know girls in GPB who go to 2 exchanges a weekend. I also know Theta girls who dont ever go out. They pefer to bar crawl with their sisters than indulge in an exchange, which is fine too. They're still social, just not with frats. Just remember that top frats still parrty with upper middle sororities, beacuse there are 30+ frats and only 12 (now 13) sororities. To the person who is looking at middle tier houses. Here's my ranking of the lower 8 houses:
1.) AOPi (They'll be popular. Try and get a rec from an alum. Go to Greekchat.com. They'll best advise you. They have a far house, but have started to come down and wear letters/be more social.

2.) XO- Former sunshine house. Social/on the row. Mix of nice/less nice girls, but still respectable.

3.) AXO- REALLY uninvolved. Dont do Greek Week or Derby days... They're forgetable, and their house is pretty far away.

Top: Kappa, DG, Pi Phi, SK
Mid: Chi O, AOPi, AXO, APhi
Lower: ADPi, DDD, GPhiB, Theta

Don't take the order too seriously, just tiers

How would you rate them on looks and personality individually?

4.) Technically APhi's supposed to be here, even though I'd rather put them lower because of their weak sisterhood, and the way they treat their sisters. Your better off in DDD or GPB, because you wont be disrespected. APhi's really trying to self-promote in the wrong way.

5.) GPB: I personally love the girls I know in GPB, so I'm a little biased. but the girls i know in GPB got amazing gifts during their Big-little weak. They have a tight sisterhood, and they're also wearing letters a lot more than they used to. Drawbacks are that they have a lot of minorities, so they party with houses like PiLam, Lambdas, Chi Psi, TDX and Sig Ep which are also a lot more diverse. These houses are considered to be on the lower end in terms of frat rankings.

6.) DDD- House up the hill .They have 2 types of girls. They have some really nice/awkward/less party-type girls (this was mainly Fall 11), and their older girls are hardcore ragers, who are repped as being more promiscuous, but still average.

DDD Cont: They're REALLY INVOLVED having won Derby days, but they do spend a lot of their dues on winning stuff like that. Their dues are higher than GPB and Theta

7. Theta: Really sweet girls. If your looking for sisterhood, it doesnt get better. A lot of their girls dont party/go to exchanges. Really nice girls, no one has anything negative to say about Theta other than low attractiveness. I'd feel bad writing mean things about Theta too. House is closest to campus.

8. ADPi (last)
They've fallen to bottom house. They have a lot of nerdy/bookish girls. Their Fall 11 was abysmal, and they're the least involved house on the row. They have these strange sleeping rooms where 12+girls sleep. And then desks/etc are in other rooms... The rumor is they haze. I know some girls in ADPi who have kinda acknowledged things like that were going on, but wouldnt admit to it. Though they were REALLY jeleous when my GPB friends were getting a BUNCH of gifts during their big little/i-weeks.

My opinion. Similar to general opinion, but there will always be some disagreements.. but heres the idea:

DG (looks=4.5, personality=4.5) = 9
AOPi (looks=4, personality=5) =9
AXO (looks=4, personality=5) =9

KKG (looks=5, personality =3) = 8
SK (looks=5, personality=3) = 8

ChiO (looks=4, personality=3) =7

PiPhi (looks=5, personality =1) = 6
DDD (looks=3, personality=3) =6

ADPi (looks=2, personality=3) =5
Theta (looks=1, personality=4) =5
GPhiB (looks=2, personality=3) =5

APhi (looks=3, personality=1) = 4

People have to start cutting Berkeleley girls (especially the ones in sororities) some slack! Before coming to Cal I thought there would be only unattractive girls there. Boy, was I wrong! The girls in sororities here (even some of the lower tier ones) are easily better looking than sorority girls at a lot of other schools! Like San Jose State for example. And they have brains and personality too! Truly amazing girls in all of the houses and the Berkeley men better start appreciating what they have.

I completely agree. Most sorority girls (in and out of Berkeley) are nothing like the ones in the movies. IRL, they are average and some very unattractive. Berkeley has an unusually strong Greek system; 12, soon to be 13 houses is a lot compared to some of the other UCs and CSU. UCLA has a good one, but many other schools only have around four different houses to choose from. The women here are great in many ways, they're much more than the Berkeley Goggles rumors.

Considering this site is anonymous and there's a lot of self ranking, the ranks on the left are still pretty close. I'm surprised... must be the people who adjust ranks or something.

Another potential PNM here wondering how competitive each of the houses are going to be in fall rush? I heard that during rush there are some houses that everyone wants and some houses that are no one's first choice and that you get matched up based on how the houses rank you. Can someone help enlighten me?
