letters of recommendation

by: Anonymous

I am a freshman planning on going through sorority recruitment this fall. I am a legacy, but to a chapter that is not at Cal. Should I try to get letters of recommendation from family friends who happen to be legacies of the sorority chapters at Cal? Do these letters help or are they only helpful if you happen to be a legacy? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Letters of rec are only accepted from mothers, sisters, or aunts who were members of chapters Cal has. Family friend rec letters won't really be of much use to you. And you really don't need them, it's not like southern university recruitment where a house won't even consider you if you don't have a letter of rec. Check the Cal panhellenic site for info

My house gets recommendation letters through our national headquarters for women, even if they are not legacies. If you are interested in a particular house and you know someone from one of those chapters who can send them, go for it.
