Delta Sig’s house is owned by their own personal local housing corporation. The crux of their dispute and eventual source of their split from Alpha Omicron Pi is that AOPi created their own nation housing corporation and demanded several years ago that all AOPi chapter houses be owned under that umbrella corporation. The chapter didn’t have any control over whether or not their local corp sold to AOPi or not, but I know one concern for the chapter was that property taxes would be re-evaluated for the first time since like the 80s when the house changed hands, which would make dues skyrocket.

Poor judgement by their National IMO. Other sororities have allowed older chapter house corps to maintain their control as long as they are well managed... as many are. New housing falls under National house management. This is a sad situation

my guess is that it was for insurance reasons. The real question is how long til the alums and nationals make up and a real aoii chapter wants to move back in? rip dsig.

delta sigma owns the house with no contact/assistance from AOPi nationals, but a strong alumni network of Berkeley AOPI Alums who were dedicated through its transition from AOPI to Delta Sigma. if AOPi were to have bought the house, dues would've skyrocketed due to Prop 13 and AOPi nationals would have had the chance to kick out housing staff or close the chapter entirely. Since the beginning of this year + first successful FFR it's felt VERY independent and run by and for the girls in the house. wouldn't call it a sad situation at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't understand why DS wants to be a local house? Why not just affiliate with another NPC organization. My guess is that the existing AOPi alums that own the house are waiting for a change in heart by the dixie mafia national! Being local makes zero sense and I'm so surprised that they got panhel recognition on any level as an organization with zero track record. I'm also kinda surprised that they have been able to recruit. I feel for what they went through but honestly don't get who is advising them on how to move forward. I'm actually glad AOPi national has no part of our panhel as their history speaks for itself in terms of how they treat their locals. Not sure why our panhel voted to allow DS to have any level of recognition as frankly they have nothing in common with NPC organizations. They really are simply a form of boarding house in their current form. Don't get it at all.

The day more than 12 real honest-to-goodness people start posting and reading across greekrank threads is the day any of this will truly matter. A website is not real life.
