why is cob so secretive?

Just wondering why houses don’t announce or advertise spring rush...is it that big a deal to not have met quota in the fall?

It's not even about meeting quota from fall formal. You can have a huge ass pledge class or above average of all the houses, but if you had a ton of seniors graduate last year you may still be below chapter total mandated by your nationals.
Its dumb and annoying cause literally every other huge state school, SMU, USC, etc. do spring rush and everyone participates and no one cares.
People here are so whack and insecure that they look for every little thing to put themselves above others in "rank" when in actuality spring rush isn't at all a reflection of the quality of the women in a house

Posters to an anonymous chat board have little incentive to be actual students nor informed about the topics they post. Become a sorority member and that which you desire to be revealed will all become known.

The OP did not even bother looking at Cal's greek web pages before asking, like any normal student would.

It really depends on how far below quota the chapter is tbh. If they have space for a larger spring class, they will advertise for recruitment events. If they have a very, very small amount of available spots, they won't advertise because it's not work holding public events when they can much more easily fill the spots from referrals that come from inside the chapter (public recruitment is a LOT of work and also not cheap).
