rushing vs. bids

by: Question

How many people in general rush the average frat vs. how many bids will the average frat give out? What are the percentages of getting a bid from a house known for being large, like ATO, vs. a more exclusive smaller house, like Sigma Chi? Is it substantially easier to get a bid from a larger house than a smaller one?

P.S- I know this question may seem annoying, but we’re Cal students at the end of the day, and stats help me feel better lol

I don't get your question but I'll try

ATO will bid you as long as you're not a square
A house like Sigma Chi/DKE/KA/SAE if you appear to be douchey enough
A smaller sized house like Sigma Nu will bid you if they like you
A house like Zete/Fiji will bid you if you're on the rowing or lacrosse team

Makes sense?

Thanks for your answer! But, what do the numbers generally look like? For a smaller house, how many people will typically rush and how many of those kids will actually get a bid? What about for a larger house, and the unaffiliated ones?

No one knows the answer to what you're asking. If you feel like joining a big house makes it look like you're not that cool because it isn't hard to get in one... that's a dumb way of looking at it

If you think joining a smaller house makes you look cool because you were evaluated harder....that's an even dumber way of looking at it.

The answer is that there's no one answer. It depends completely on the house, how many people are rushing, and the size/type of the pledge class they're looking for. Advice for rush: don't worry about the "acceptance rate" as you seem to be looking at it. Focus on putting your best foot forward and meeting as many guys in the house as possible. Also try to make it to every rush event. If you do these things and the guys like you, you'll get a bid

Don't worry about the actual numbers. Frats will and can adjust their pledge class sizes if they like the rushees more than usual. All that matters is if you are a good fit with the frat.
