middle tier attention

why is there so many posts surrounding the middle tier (huge range here) sororities? like tri delta, zta, delta sigma, chi o, alpha phi, and the like get mentioned wayyy more than top or bottom houses? there seems to be such a competition between houses in the middle tier to determine which houses are higher up and which houses are lower down - like relax, don't take being middle tier so seriously
