gpa requirements
by: halpFirst semester freshman in a house and I am pretty sure i'm going to fail one of my classes :( will that affect my standing in my house? I am too scared to talk to my sisters about this because they are all super smart and I feel really stupid but i'm concerned that i'm going to get around a 2.3 (ish) gpa this semester (f u chem 1A). What is the likelihood that I will be dropped/does anyone have experience with this problem in the past? I'm really struggling and any advice would help!

don't stress out too much about it, we've all been there with tough classes at some point! first off, don't be afraid to talk to your sisters, especially your house's scholarship chair. they're here to help you work things out. obviously i can't speak for all houses, but with most houses, you won't get kicked out after one bad semester. you might end up with some form of academic probation, but overall you'll be ok.
#2by: you got this
Don't be afraid to ask your sisters for help! Everyone has been nervous about not doing well in a class at some point here at Cal. Reaching out to those who have taken the class before or those who are older and can give you some advice will help you more than you think! You can also talk to your teacher/gsi/classmates - some are resources that can help you turn your gpa around!
