Are they trying to keep people in or out? My bet is trying to keep 'em in so we don't have to deal with their 'extra' antics.

calm down, nearly every greek house has hired security on game days. continuously bashing on dg for literally no reason just makes you look stupid and petty.

There are plenty of race related issues within our Greek system but wtf does a security guard outside of DG have to do with it? I've walked past DG on many game days without the sight of security guards, so either something happened and they're taking precautions or they just want to be safe. DG can spend their dues however they want.

The security IS necessary at DG! There was a major issue last month that scared us all. We cannot rely on campus police and everyone knows the BPD is useless. Have you looked at the daily crime stats being reported on campus? We are waiting for the new scan system to be installed and there will also be a new card system for guests etc. Berkeley is not a safe place and waking up in the middle of the night with unknown people walking around the house in masks looking for cash and valuables is beyond frightening. Wake up people!!!!!!!!

Yes, the break-in's have been kept on the down low for reasons I don't get. Both DG and PiPhi had recent issues and I don't know why as a community we don't talk about security more. Not sure when personal security has joined the increasingly long list of PC topics but I for one think its crazy not to talk about staying safe on our unsafe campus. The campus police really are no better than the keystone cops. When we called them to report the break-in they told us to come in and file a report. WTF??????? We've also had multiple car break-in's when there was nothing visible in the car. Last week someone broke into a car simply to have someplace to sleep (they left their jacket in the back seat). These are some crazy times. Stay safe!
