top of the bottom?

by: gobears

There's a lot of talk about how the top houses rank, but what about the bottom ones? It seems like DDD, Delta sig and zta did pretty well. Opinions?

These houses did well in pulling quota and girls who turned down more popular houses despite all of the toxic ranking on this site that discouraged girls from joining any house that wasn't top. Seems as if the "upper mid" and "lower mid" are evening out to be honest. This, along with a stronger sense of community across houses, is what we need right now. There is no need to rank these houses in any particular order.

^^ Anyone trying to rank these houses or argue that the didn't do just as well as "upper mid" houses are clearly trying to hold their position up in this toxic hierarchy that exists. We can be happy for neighboring chapters and their PC's and not have it reflect it negatively on our own chapters. All houses did well, let's leave it at that.

These houses all seem very happy with their pledge classes. As long as this is the case we don't need to say anything else about them or their ranking. Houses can establish their own identity/character INDEPENDENT of a ranking system and I truly hope this is the direction we are headed in. If all houses establish a sense of community they are proud of and have this be unrelated to a ranking system, there won't be a need to hype themselves up or put other houses down in the process.

Word of advice to ALL houses: work on your issues internally and work to create a clear sense of community to make your new PC's feel welcome and proud to be part of your chapter. This will say more than any ranking ever will and will make the recruitment process better for everyone.

Agreed. Funny how the houses that have the least sense of community are the most focused on boosting the spot on this godforsaken site. This message therefore should be directed to the notorious self rankers (you know who you are). "Bottom" houses did well because they did what this post said, and it showed. Many lessons can be learned from this years recruitment and subsequent pc's

I agree with a lot of the sentiments. Luckily, most bottom houses did very well in recruitment, especially considering that it actually wasn't that hard for them: There were so many PNM's, especially so many high quality ones (by high quality, I mean girls who seem ACTUALLY interested in Greek life) that it seems as though all houses got amazing pledge classes.

Except for the house that didn't get a pledge class. Thanks Alpha Phi and other chapters for encouraging girls to drop outta recruitment to take COB bids instead of "ending up" at Gamma Phi.
