can xo or panhel send out a blast email?
by: nopeCan XO or Panhel send out a blast email or text to all remaining PNMs to clarify the situation with XO? PNMs are scared, confused and have zero information about the status of XO. To ask PNMs to trust XO national after the way they treated their own house is something that no PNM should be asked to do. Not a way we should treat each other and Cal should not let this happen. Seriously bad and wrong.

I went to pref at chi omega last night and I have been thinking about this all day. I don't know what to think. I went to the national website and found this statement and kept thinking that the way we are being treated in not in line with the values of the national or this policy. I am stuck.
From ChiOmega website:
Chi Omega respects all individuals. Each member and new member should be treated with respect and dignity. Likewise, each member and new member is expected to uphold the honor and dignity of Chi Omega on all occasions. Chi Omega Ritual supports the principle that dignity is an inalienable right of each individual.

What moral responsibilities do the local chapter, Chi Omega national organization and Cal panhel have to pnms to address the questions around Chi Omega? The sound of silence through the entire week has been deafening. If the national doesn't want to stand for anything then that is their choice but I don't get why the Cal community doesn't stand for anything and why nobody seems to be looking out for pnms that honestly know little. I hope some parents know better and can help the pnms as god knows no help is coming from Cal.

Dearest PNMs. I am a former recruitment chair and I'm sorry you do not have the information you'd like to have about Chi O. Here are my thoughts, for what they're worth. I have NO knowledge about your situation. And your RCs know far more than me about pledging.
You are going to get ONE BID shortly. That's it. If you get a bid from Chi o. I strongly encourage you to go to Chi o and enjoy tonight's activities. As far as I remember, you have nothing to lose by doing that. You can confirm that with your RC. You've worked hard and it will be a wonderful night with sisters who really really want you. While you're at Chi o tonight talk to the sisters and other pledges only if it's appropriate. If not tonight, then make it your goal to call the chapter advisor or national or whoever to get the information you need in the next week or so.
While you want info and an email blast, keep in mind that most houses like to keep the bad things that happen to them on the down low. You can see that they wouldn't want to let the entire row and 1000 PNMs know what happened last year, especially since they believe they handled it and want to put it in the past. There are always two sides to every story and you should be glad Chi o has a national that values high standards. Maybe they could have handled it better, I don't know, but hind sight is 20/20. And honestly the girls who left may have done some things that were not okay. Again I don't know.
But take a chance tonight and go!

By going to the party they are sending the message that they are ok with how they have been treated. How they have been treated is simply not ok on any level. I would like to hear a coherent answer by anyone at XO as to why they believe its ok to treat pnms in this way. I like XO, I truly do but this is totally not right. These pnms know nothing and are drowning in the emotion of the moment and desperately want to join a house. Letting this go forward is exploitative at best. Can't someone step in with authority and halt this until the situation is clarified and people can make a choice with eyes open and fully informed? This is like a daylight driveby robbery of innocent people. I think panhel should offer these xo bidholders another house and not hold them to xo at all. As much as I hate to say it I can see letting houses go way over quota to take on people that had a bid from xo. This is all so wrong on so many levels. So, to answer the question asked, "I would NEVER go to this party as the invitation was not extended in good faith - I am talking about the national here and NOT the local but its clear the local has zero say in anything going on with the situation".

Do people genuinely think that not sending out an email to the entire PNM and Panhellenic community about chi o's situation is CRIMINAL??? Most chapters go on probation. Most have survived and thrived after it. Why would XO air their dirty laundry and their problems to girls who are about to join their chapter along with girls who aren't? It would just cause more drama and gossip. They will tell the new members what they need to know and those girls are smart enough to make their own decisions.

This is a total laugh! Sorry you are caught in this bind but seriously just say no to being treated this way. The national will survive and at this point I'm not so sure how much I care about the local surviving as this national group is nothing but pure irresponsible evil.
