spring rush
by: hi
can someone comment on how the spring rush process for sororities is like?
how competitive is it to get a bid from the middle/lower tier sororities?

Honestly: Don't worry about how competitive a house is. If your genuinely interested in a house, you should attend their events. The more events you attend, the increased likelihood you have of getting a bid. Dress nice, do your hair and make-up. Have basic hygine, smile, and engage with sisters at the houses. Genuine conversations go a long way, and being too quiet or too talkative doesnt help. If you don't get a bid, don't be disappointed. Fact is, you have no control over how many bids a house has, and no one knows how many bids they're planning on distributing, Your best bet is to go into each house with a positive state of mind.
That being said. I would go to the CalGreeks website now, and contact sororities that are doing invitation only recruitment. Suggestion: clean up/privatize your facebook. Yes, houses facebook stalk, and they either judge you positively/negatively on it, and they try and match you up with girls with similar personality/interest to yours.
Overall, go to as many houses as you can and as many events. Events do conflict, and if you need a miss an event for prior commitment reasons email their recruitment vice president a nice, short, email. Being friendly goes a long way.
