2017 which houses did you pref and which didja pic

by: PNMs please read this

The 2016 Cal greekrank thread regarding "which house did you pref and which did you pick?" is now extra long and convoluted with multiple opinions and ideas. Year 2017 PNMs trying to read and digest it are sure to become unnecessarily nervous and confused about our 2017 formal rush.

The point of this thread is that past is past, no use dwelling upon it. 2017 PNMs need to look FORWARD to their OWN formal recruitment.

Cal Panhel has made adjustments and improvements to their formal recruitment which will be observed and appreciated by 2017 pnms.

I am placing this 2017 thread here, now, for last year's formal recruitment complainers to SUCCINCTLY sum-up their feelings about 2016's recruitment and allow everyone to move beyond complaining about 2016 by looking forward to 2017's Fall Formal rush.

I absolutely love the pure optimism and delusion of the OP on the topic of 2017 recruitment. While we all wish for an improvement of the management of recruitment this year, it remains to be seen whether this will in fact happen. The naysayers are already ready to pounce as they are correctly pointing out the the number of PNMs looks to be an increase over last year with no new houses added (other than inclusion of Delta Sigma - former AOPI). Large classes can't be sustained for yet another year as they were a serious stress to a number of houses last year. Feels like we are simply watching a greek version of the movie 'Waiting for Superman' as nothing ever seems to change. Simply sad.

'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' Santayana

The past is never just the past which is something that I guess the OP simply doesn't understand. The premise of the OP is simply incorrect but its probably a good idea to start a 2017 thread.

I hope the OP was not part of the panhel redesign for 2017. Just saying that they seriously don't understand the idea of PLAN/DO/EVALUATE and process review and change. PNMs, realize the process has limitations and go into the experience with as much knowledge (and yes, different opinions) as you possibly can get. Being stressed and nervous doesn't make it easier for us to get to know you so please try to leave the anxiousness at the door when you visit as this will be better for you and much better for us. We look forward to meeting all 1,000 + of you!

If someone in a house reaches out now and asks you to go for coffee is this a rush violation? This just happened to me and I'm not sure what to do. Should I not respond?

Please inform PHC of it. Dont respond. You're likely not the only person they are doing this to and it is against the rules.

So long as you maximized your options it should all be good. Stressful situation to be sure and much kudos on hanging in there. My roomate had one option left at pref last year and it all worked out for her. She was in a total panic and wished she had two options but she didn't and things worked out. She wasn't sure about her house initially but became an officer in her pledge class and totally grew into her house. I give her so much credit because she absolutely wasn't 100% on her choice but jumped into her new house and gave it alot of focus and time and it worked for her. Because so many people on our floor went through last fall we now know people in a bunch of different houses which is honestly the best. Dorm friends in first year as so important so meet as many people in and out of the greek system as you can!
