which frat?

From a girls perspective, I really don't recommend joining any of these houses. The best of the three is Chi Phi...they're still bad but the other two are absolutely bottom.

Rush the top houses. They're considered the best for a reason

Girl here. I've gone to exchanges with all three. Chi Psi is my personal favorite. I think they're the chillest/throw the best parties of the three. I feel like Sigma Pi is kind of too small/unknown? But from what I saw, they seemed to have the best brotherhood. Not a fan of phitau AT ALL (sorry). Hope this helps!

phi tau - Been there a couple times. Brothers are nice, but a little awkward. They all tend to be kinda bookish, average guys here at Cal, and don't talk that often to people they don't know, or at least not me and my friends when we went there. A few were cute and fun to talk to, a little broey, but the rest were kinda meh and didn't say anything at all. Nothing really special about them, throw some cool parties, but not that often. If only they were better in social situations! Their house is pretty nice, but fairly average as a Berkeley frat house. Don't know what sororities they exchange with, if any.

sig pi - Been here a few times as well. Definitely one of the most random group of guys in a frat here at Berkeley. Seen by some as a stoner house, which is somewhat justified, but they also have some smart academic types, some athletic jock types, and some frat-bro types. Some of them were surprisingly gentlemanly and cute! Went to a party here once and it was rocking, easily one of the better basement parties I'd been to in a long time. But they haven't thrown another one in over a year, and I don't know why, since that seemed to be the biggest thing they had going for them. House is a dump though, small and not in a great location. Don't know what sororities they exchange with, if any.

chi psi - No idea. Never been to there. House looks cool though!

Chi Psi is the "lowest ranked" of the three you listed. That being said, rankings don't really matter, and the Greek system will give you a great experience regardless. Sig Pi does have the stoner-house reputation. I don't wanna say their invisible, but they're less visible than Phi Tau and Chi Psi, both of which are on the row and have decent game days. Sigma Pi is pretty internalized, I don't know much else about them.

Chi Psi has a nice-ish house, they have parking, but they really struggled with getting pledges last semester. They only got between 2-4 total. Chi Psi is really active about getting as many exchanges and parties as possible. They like to boast about having exchanged with both bottom tier and top tier sororities, (I think they had 8 or 9 exchanges last semester? a LOT for a frat). They're close with Theta, but have worked on relationships with Kappa/Pi Phi (since those girls tend to buy Chi Psi's parking...) Not sure how genuine/deep it is, plus I heard Chi Psi steals letters and stuff from Pi Phi's house. If you're into pranking or this kinda stuff, Chi Psi is all about it..

Phi Tau has TNDC, which is fairly unique. Its a "chill' scene, and if you're not really into huge parties, Phi Tau could be a better option: they tend to me more "kick-back" oriented. They also are pretty internal/into themselves. They don't throw a lot of large parties either. They have some cute brothers, but are def on the bro-ier side of the three houses.
