can i wear a crop top to recruitment?
by: curiousI wear a lot of crop tops and have my navel pierced; would it be better to dress more conservatively during recruitment?

i think maybe on the two unity days you could, but personally i wouldn't risk it. rush is about making good impressions and you never know if it could adversely affect your chances. plus u have all the rest of college and life to wear crop tops so i'd maybe just opt out of wearing one during recruitment

Not sure where you are from but my suggestion is to go onto you tube and take a look at some of the videos where people talk about what they wear for each day of recruitment. Not saying this is a foolproof way to prepare for our school as we are a bit more relaxed but it will give you a better idea about what works and what doesn't. Keep in mind that with so many people going through recruitment that the message you are sending out to people is largely reflected by your personal energy and what you are wearing. If you think a crop top and visible piercing are the image you are going for then by all means wear the crop top and show off the piercing. But I can tell you based on looking at what people are wearing now for a few years that I DID NOT see any crop tops last year and did not see much in the way of visible piercings. This is not to say people didn't have piercings, but they certainly didn't show them off. IMO crop tops are for super casual situations and not for recruitment. Just my opinion.

Downvote on crop tops, ripped jeans, short shorts, old tattered anything, cleavage of ANY kind UNLESS you believe any of these things are totally 'you' and the image you want to portray to the world. All choices have consequences and I don't think the consequences of wearing any of these items would be at all positive based on prior years of recruitment. Just saying. In general when in doubt keep it conservative.

Watch the short dresses and rompers. Last year a number of PNMs had dresses that were so short that they couldn't really comfortably sit down. It was a running joke in our house to ask the super short dress people to sit down when it was obvious that they couldn't. Whole thing was a bit of a joke. Not sure why people can't find a dress length that at least covers their ass when they sit down. Quite a mystery.

I think the original short dress comment came from KKG. Ran into so many Kappas last year that complained about not being able to sit down. Couldn't figure out what they were talking about but it must have been the short dress issue. Mystery solved. But I can totally see a house full of APhi's not able to sit down either which is a hilarious image. I also guess that if you want to be an APhi that you should wear a dress that doesn't cover your ass!

No. Just NO. How did you get into our school and ask a question like this? Really. I just want to put my head in the sand and pray that we don't have too many people like this going through recruitment. Actually I changed my mind, it would be hilarious to have a crop top mob this year. Everyone wear crop tops and it will honestly make our jobs sooooo much easier. Go Crop or Go HOME!

It should be Go Crop and Go Home! Like the sound of this. Maybe we should try to come up with more pithy nuggets to suggest to the PNMs? But last year certainly had some dress to not impress moments that were quite sad. All I can say is to wear shoes you won't fall over in and keep your top and bottom covered. If you can pull this off then you will be ok. I think we are relaxed in our standards and so many people last year dressed like they were going to play beach volleyball.

Please look at the Panhel website/manual to get an idea of what to wear each day. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as heels are quite a challenge and you will be on you feet for a very long time. Last year some people brought flats in a bag and then left the bags outside the house. I guess if I were short I might do this but for avg height and above people just a moderate heel will be totally fine. I think someone else posted about this last year but someone got both their heels caught in a grate and had to be rescued as she couldn't move to escape. Her shoes couldn't be rescued so she had to go barefooted which I am sure eliminated her from a good number of houses. All in all a tragedy and all because she was wearing the wrong shoes.
