sorority pledge size and distribution

How large are pledge sizes generally at Cal? Also, i heard phc at Berkeley guarantees a bid to every PNM? Is there some negotiation between the chapters? How does this work exactly??

last year pledge classes were quite large (ranging from about 50-70), but i think that is fairly new.

Pledge class numbers will be based on how many people go through and stay in FFR! It used to be about 35-45 but starting last year we had a LOT of people sign up and less people drop so it turned out to be 50-70.

Matching with a house is done by a Mutual Selection process- there should be more information on the PHC website. It's done through a computer system so chapters do not communicate this information with each other.

Essentially, at the end of each day, you'll be able to rank which chapters you'd be most interested in going back to and less interested in going back to; chapters will go through a similar process for PNMs. A condition is that you must rank all houses you are invited to- if you decide to leave off a house you are no longer guaranteed a bid.

You are guaranteed a bid IF you rank all your options on PREFERENCE night (the last day of FFR before you get matched). Sometimes it happens where a PNM is dropped from all chapters before Pref Night, but this is pretty rare. Just make sure you meet the academic requirements by each chapter and keep an open mind!

as long as you maximize your options by ranking every house you visit on a given day, you will have a bid at the end of the process
