it's called greek rank for a reason

If you've been following the discussions on this site you would find that there have been many candid, eye opening and meaningful discussions about issues regarding the Greek system, it's flaws, it's contributions and changes needed. I've actually really done some self reflecting and it's helped me understand some of the mechanics involved in recruitment. What I observe also is that many people get their questions about things like COB, cost, role of legacies etc answered here. The discussions surrounding the issue of race and minorities in the Greek system have been very meaningful and I think have contributed to raising awareness. So no, this site is not for ranking. That's a misnomer. To have someone constantly dumb it down to a rank ( which is then maintained at the top of the discussion feed) takes away from important discussions, totally detracts from what the Greek system is about and completely feeds into the stereotype of an elitist system with superficial girls who engage in cat fights. It's true that this site is called greekrank but is the rank based on anything substantive? Even if one agrees that it's a ranking website ranks should be based on factors like sisterhood, retention rate, network resources for career support, philanthropy etc. Is it based on any of hat? No!! There is no reasoning to the ranking other than looks and whiteness of girls which is beyond our control! Because something (ranking) goes on does make it ok to add to the problem
