Sons and Daughters are drinking clubs at Cal.

Former frats were Beta, Dke, Zete, and SAE

Now with SAE gone, Fiji decided to unofficially join the club but they aren't part of the sons because they haven't been traditionally. So basically, you wear a cal tie and meet super early for game days and basically drink until you are blacked out. Not everyone in those frats become members of the club but they can if they want to, while other frats cannot like Pike and Fiji.

One way easy to tell is look at their pledges. Beta, Dke, and Zete wear same pledge attires like they wear during game days.


For sororities they are Pi Phi, Kappa, DG, Chi O and maybe ADPI. I haven't seen ADPI daughters actually but I did hear they part of the club. It's probably because they don't hang out with other sororities in the club or the frats. It's the same thing for sororities where they have to wear ties and shirts and drink a ton.

If you join any of those houses, I encourage you join the club because it's fun and a great way to meet and drink with people, if you are into that. But not necessary.

Kappa doesn't do this, they lost theirs

Daughters was DG Alpha Phi Tri Delt ADPi and Chi O for decades. When tri delt collapsed in 2001 (from being the #2 house to where they are now), they gave their ties to Pi phi at a very contentious meeting. None of the other houses wanted Pi phi in as they were already in Ace. I know because I was there. ADPi and Alpha Phi had traditionally held the presidency.
Sons was ATO Pike Deke SAE and Beta. Fiji had been in before but dropped out due to being kicked off campus.

All you kids need to learn your history.

Daughters is one of the most fun things to be invited to on campus and I am sorry you were not selected. Without giving anything away, I can say if you are lucky enough to be picked, it is an honor and you'll have your cohorts backs for life. It is more than just drinking.
