don't listen to rankings!

by:

As we head into pref, I really want to remind people that you shouldn't be making a decision that will greatly impact the next four years of your life based on what a few mean girls on the internet say about houses. You should judge your decision on where YOU will be happy, not where you think others say is "top". Doesn't it sound silly to say you chose XYZ house because you read on the internet that they're "top tier". All that shows is insecurity; that there are some girls so desperate for attention and security within themselves that they have to put down groups of hundreds of other women simply to make themselves feel better. A top house calls a bottom house "weird"? Do you honestly think they know that house better than you do, when chances are they have hardly interacted with them?

Top houses don't play fair during recruitment, but you'll never find a woman in a "bottom" house who will talk bad about others. Think about the kind of woman you want to be and aspire to be and ask yourself if she would choose a sisterhood based on rank.

Good luck everyone!

A friend of mine had a perfect recruitment at TCU, she is beautiful, smart, and kind, and was not dropped by anyone. Unfortunately, she didn't have any greek family members or friends to give her any advice, so she chose the "top" house. It was a terrible mismatch and she almost de-pledged. She stuck with it, but is still not very happy (even after two years) and wishes she'd chosen a house where her values matched better.

Wherever you go tonight, you should know that you are not there by chance, you did not sneak in through the back door. The girls in the house really want you as their sister. You are all amazing, wonderful women! Congrats on making it through and best wishes for tomorrow.
