Sigma Chi - ΣΧ Fraternity Ratings at UCB

Honestly, they are not a lot better than they were last year. Unfortunately, the younger guys will be their core next year. Most of their seniors are inactive. They tried to throw a halloween party, and their setup was amateur at best. Their risk definitely needs work, as they have been not getting better. It is going to take a lot more efforts and thorough changes to improve the culture at this house.

I really appreciated how they were one of the only houses with a women’s bathroom ❤️

We continue to monitor Sigma Chi manipulations of the feedback. Recently authentic comments were removed, thus further inflating the overall rank. This is particularly egregious given that Sigma Chi was just recently exposed (July 2023) for deleting more than 20 posts to inflate their GR average ratings and ranking. Seems to just be a bunch of dudes who like to put their letters in their bio. We have been monitoring Sig Chi manipulations of the real feedback and comments over the past two years. Since January 2023, all authentic comments were removed, thus inflating the overall rank. Sig Chi continues to actively manipulate the GreekRank contents across each of the UC schools. For instance, last UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCI it appear that Sigma Chi fraternities are consistently eliminating unfavorable reviews and engaging in self-ranking to keep Sig Chi at the top of the GR "rank" list. Which is both sad and pathetic - an accurate reflection of the Sig Chi ethical behavior.

Reading through some of the posts that Sigma Chi deleted during April, there are several themes that are consistent with my own experiences, including -- BORING parties. Seem insecure. Boring and arrogant, a bad mix. ... There seems to be various factions within this frat and clearly lots of drama, and this continues to drag them down. I stand in solidarity with my sisters in avoiding these guys. ... This sigma chi frat has been going downhill for years. ... Sisters in my sorority, as well as friends in other sororities have consistently commented on how disrespectful most of the sig chi guys are. They really need to respect women and create a more positive culture. ... this fraternity continues to be on the decline because so many of them are not kind or thoughtful to girls, and many are seriously disrespectful. my friends refuse to go to their parties because we have interacted with too many creepy sig chi guys. ... honestly its best to be aware, be safe, and avoid their parties. ... overall, sig chi is irrelevant and not your typical fraternity, it's a bunch of weird guys. ... Stay away. No parties, always on probation, smart sororities know better than to associate with them by now. Awkward lame guys that don't know what to talk about beyond greek life.

Many bad eggs makes the whole house rotten. Some friends tell me that historically this was an ok frat, then they had a lot of problems, and I know there are some guys who continue to draw the ire of everyone by being disrespectful. They’re too desperate for new pledges which reflects their weak brotherhood/parties etc. Many of the guys are chill but lots of weird ones too

Not worth your time and effort rushing. There are some nice guys, but the brotherhood seems to be really poor, not to mention their terrible house that looks like a rathole. Almost half of pledges in the last two semesters tried to drop and pledge another frat (and some were successful). You have plenty of other options for frats here at Cal.

Pretty mid frat honestly, nothing super distinctive. As far as I know the inter Greek-connections aren’t strong

Weird group of guys that don't fit into the overall Sigma Chi culture. A few years ago, there were some nice guys, but all of the good ones are gone. So sad to see how far they have fallen. I feel like they are all quietly thinking to themselves that they definitely joined the wrong fraternity, and they aren't wrong. Our sorority avoids doing anything with this house. When we got closer we could see that the headstone also had a cross of gold, with white and black enamel, including two chains connecting the upper arms, crossed keys on the upper arm, an eagle’s head on its right arm, a scroll on its left arm, clasped hands and seven stars on the lower arm, and the Greek letters for Sigma Chi in the center. It seemed odd, so we kept walking towards it, to get a closer look. Below the name, she read the epitaph aloud; "Here lies a member of Sigma Chi and a Great Man." My sister then said to me, "I don't get it." I said, "Why not?" She said, "Why are there 2 people buried here?" It was almost like they had to say "I'm in Sig Chi but don't judge me because of it." Honestly, it came off really pathetic on their own behalf as well as their house. I've only been to this frat a couple times, met some sketchy guys, and I have any no desire to go back. Considering their lack of connections with sororities, awful parties, and poor brotherhood it is not clear why they have any new pledges. Well, I suppose even Scientology continues to recruit new members.
