So many drops its sad
by: PnmI swear so many people dropped today. Why aren’t more people willing to join a lower ranked house and try and make it better. Literally every girl at UM is so gorgeous and fun and smart, if all the girls that dropped just stayed in and helped improve lower houses we’d have 7 strong houses here

Well Jane, In my opinion, fraternity ranks are based on what type of women they attract, and women choose who they interact with. If cool and pretty girls didn't go to SAE parties and they became a sausage fest, then SAE would have a hard time giving bids to the type of men that most women find attractive and want to be around, because those men would want to be around the women they themselves want, don't you think ? Being in a sorority they have good relations with just makes it easy for everyone there. And even though you may not want to get with them, there are plenty who do. I really don't think fraternities care as much about a sororities status as women do. Lets not kid ourselves and pretend that women do not compete with each other as well.

Your use of the word ‘lower houses’ says a lot. Everyone needs to get rid of those terms and talking about those tiers. There’s no such thing really as lower and top and middle. It depends what you like and value. Not everyone wants to be into partying and clubs and fakeness. It’s more of the right fit and interests for each individual person. No group is better than another across the board unless you’re judging by someone else’s perspective. Everyone should open their minds.

I think dropping comes from girls who have great convos and connections at various houses and still get dropped. It is confusing and disheartening and puts a bad taste in a girls mouth.
Personally, I made great connections, had girls tell me they loved my personality, compliment me excessively, laugh, etc, seemingly do everything right and still get dropped. The issue is the houses and the process, not the girls rushing.

the process sucks I don’t think anyone disagrees. But you gotta remember, it’s these girls jobs to make you feel like you connected with their house. They’re complimenting every PNM that comes through their doors and trying to make them feel special so they have more girls to choose from. Not necessarily anything wrong with that, everyone wants people to like their house. I’ve loved girls and my sorority has still dropped them, even though the convo was great. There’s just more great girls rushing than any individual house can take.
Where I blame the girls rushing, is when they still have one, or even three or four, sororities left and they drop and cry about it. You’ve met maybe, maybe 8-9 girls and talked to them for a few hours in total, and they won’t even give a house a chance cuz it’s not their first choice or they had their heart set on a house that had their pledge class selected before it even started. The process sucks, but it’s what we have, and even if it was different the top chapters wouldn’t be bidding every girl. Dropping rush because someoen didnt try to make a connection at the houses they had the best chance to get into just isnt gonna get sympathy

It’s honestly because umiami has spring recruitment and this lets the freshmen gather so many preconceived notions about the chapters that they are already too keen on who they know they want by January. Same thing with the chapters as spring rush makes dirty rushing so much easier. Fall rush should be the way to go as it’s so much fresher.

Can’t tell if this is a dude or a very weird girl, but you’re drawing a lot of conclusions. Having been in panhel for years, it’s obvious there’s some girls that do, in fact, pick based on social status and what guys think, and that’s a crappy way to do things. And there’s a lot of guys, seems like you might be one of them, that think that is why girls should join a sorority. I was friends with a lot of SAEs freshmen year, and they all had opinions on where I should go and none of them had anything to do with where I would actually make friends. I’m not saying lower sororities are better or top ones aren’t good, I’m saying the girls who drop purely because they wanted top and didn’t get it usually suck. And that the ranks are based on the opinions of guys that, for the majority of the time, you couldn’t pay me enough money in the world to get with
