It’s done by nationals but they make it a little higher. For deeph is 2.7-2.75, zeta adpi u need at least 3.0 (nationally) prob higher like 3.3. For sdt not sure prob over 2.6ish, and for chi o and pi phi they usually keep u as long as ur in Recuitment based on gpa. U need a 2.5 to rush but most houses want u to b higher like 3 something and set their minimum higher than the national. And if ur below the national minimum for the sorority it doesn’t matter how much they like you you’ll get cut the first round. If u make it past the first round u prob weren’t cut for ur gpa.

It shouldn’t make or break your rush, but if your GPA is on the lower end definitely don’t go in with your heart set on a specific chapter. Panhell should publish each chapters GPA requirement if it’s different than the rush requirement. Most chapters would prefer a little higher, reason being if you get too low you won’t be able to fully participate in a sorority. However, some of the chapters recognize an engineering and comms GPA are different, so like chi o, phi phi tri delt like she said won’t immediately reject you for a low one, and honestly if you have what they’re looking for I don’t think deeph and SDT care all that much. ADPI and zeta are probably the toughest in that sense, but gpa cuts are usually automatic and I don’t recall seeing them when voting on girls. So if you have the chapter minimum you’re probably ok from that standpoint, maybe the back room girls make tough calls in a tie breaker in the early rounds, idk. but it probably wont stop you from getting into a sorority, you just may have a shorter call back list

To add to that, something no one talks about is the actual time commitment and how lenient chapters can be.
If your gpa is borderline, especially in a difficult major, definitely think about if you’re ready to add on a time commitment and consider fall rush or waiting a year.
If youre very academic minded, no matter your gpa, understand that some sororities and you can probably guess who, will have much more time consuming pledging processes and I have seen them eat into girls. Just be ready for a packed six to eight weeks. There can also be pressure to skip class for parties and mixers, so be ready for that too. It’s not from everyone, but have boundaries in your head and if you’re struggling academically or already have a full schedule, try to take that into account during rush. No one will admit to the things I said above, but if it’s really a concern ask realistic questions about what the time commitment is like and what resources the sorority has
