Sorority Rush 2023

Rush this year was HORRIBLE. The video round was awful and useless and a setback to the Greek system. Didn’t benefit the potential new members or the sororities. Makes the Greeks look so superficial.
It’s time to add 2 more National Chapters. Bring DG and KKG back

Yeah it was stupid and we need more, Video round was a horrible idea instead of just making rush longer. I think they’re probably waiting for pi phi to get closer to total before bringing another sorority but they should expand soon with the demand. I’d rather see a new group though, kkg would be cool but that’s up to if their nationals wanna come back, dg has a lot of baggage and it would be cool to get a group with a new vibe like AXO or DZ

2min Videos were an awful way to judge candidates. All it did was lean the selection to girls who already knew girls in the sorority in some way. Reinforces all the
negative stereotypes of sororities. Truly against any notion of “sisterhood” A step back for Greek life. Bad call by panhellenic and a overall negative experience for a vast majority that really didn’t need to happen.

True, but it’s prob much lower because there’s no way they all stuck with it. And the sad thing is, I’m wondering if panhell thought that was too many and did the video round knowing it would make a ton of people quit

It’s expected that ppl will be dropped, but when it’s set up that the drops happen before you even meet anyone based on a video with the single goal of elimination makes it seem petty, sets it up so that they only look to criticize and inevitably get prioritizes vanity. It’s not the elimination it’s how they did it this year.

The tops all dirty rushed and dropped so many pretty and nice girls for no apparent reason or due to not being connected enough to the girls already in. Deeph overstretched and dropped too many and ended up short. SDT got dropped by few who said they came off as Mean/weird and preferred Zeta this year. Its a crap shoot and some of the girls on the inside truly perpetuate crap.

Completely agree. DZ would be cool to bring to campus. We def need to work on our Greek life here at UM and get more sororities in order to give girls a better chance.
