I am a freshman girl. What do I expect from sororities? I know people will say not to focus on rankings but how are things with each sorority? What are the expected pledge classes expected to be like for them

Here’s what rush was like for me and how I felt after the first few rounds- it wasn’t at all what I expected going in. It’s hard to predict, there is stereotypes about each sorority and sometimes they are true, but what you actually get during rush is way more dependent on how much you vibe with the people you talk to, unless you really have your heart set on something, or against something, and you don’t see things for what they are.
ADPI- natural, funny I had a good time with the girls and they seemed put together, loved their videos and the energy in the suite and this was my first choice the whole time
Deeph - a lot of people want deeph and going through rush I could see why, the girls I talked to were super bubbly and the conversations flowed so easily, and they have the best rush chants
Chi o- this one surprised me a little but like I said it’s luck of who you talked to. I really hit it off with the first few people I talked to probably more than I did anywhere else
Tri delt- this suite was always hard to hear in, I really liked the girls and I knew going into rush quite a few sisters I thought were a lot of fun
Zeta- the girls were nice, this was the sorority I thought I wanted going in but I just didn’t click with them
SDT- I got a bad match here and they were the first ones off my card. I loved their video and the energy in the suite but I just didn’t vibe with the person I spoke to at all
Pi Phi- wasn’t here when I rushed
Obviously that’s not the typical rankings but that’s kinda the point..its hard to go into rush expecting anything because your experience will be based so much on the people that you talk to in each sorority. You could go into one you think you will love and not vibe at all and vice versa, but usually it works out in the end.

This is so true! Sororities have ways of trying to match you up but if we’re all honest with ourselves, unless you see what you think you’re going to see, rush is entirely dependent on the 2-3 girls in a sorority of 200+ that you talk to each round. It’s not deep like some people like to think, they’re all fun

The rankings really only matter if you care which frats you mix with. Similar ranked sororities mix w similar ranked frats. But honestly it’s stupid to call it a “ranking” bc no one is better or worse then anyone else it’s more just about the general vibe and none of it matters when you graduate anyway. If a sorority drops you then you probably wouldn’t be a good fit there and you wouldn’t want to be somewhere where you aren’t wanted anyway. Just be the best version of yourself and remember it’s not that deep

This is tru for the most part butttt just so people know it’s not so cut and dry how sororities cut people, and don’t feel bad if you get dropped because it could be a bad fit, but it could also be a stroke of bad luck. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes and no one wants to admit how much of rush is up to pure chance, how many people pref SDT and chio or deeph and tri delt. How one person could get six sororities back on day two and just pi phi on day three, while another could get four back and have their choice of those groups all week. two girls that are equally good fits for sororities could have completely different outcomes because one of them was talked about toward the end of scoring or because the sister who loved her the most happened to be in the bathroom when she was being talked about. You never know, and you should never feel bad about how it shakes out or overthink who drops you because it could literally be that the girl who rushed you that day was having a bad mood when she walked in. That’s part of the fun though, if you stick it out you will end up in a good place
