possibly transferring here next year

by: ??

What is the Greek life like here? I’d be coming from IU so I’m sure it’s definitely different because of the weather, but what’s it like for people that come here with no connections. (I’m a guy btw) and is it worth transferring here?

Don’t do it. If you’re transferring here primarily because of Greek life you will be severely disappointed. Every year Greek life has gotten smaller and smaller as more orgs are kicked off. Greek life at UM is small and loud. I’ve been there done that and I wish I’d have known what I know now about Greek life here.

agreed. It can be really hard to be a guy here. Wish I had known more about greek life as well before coming

Well I’m sure IU has better Greek life that isn’t the reason id transfer. I just like the weather/beaches etc. also I speak Spanish so maybe that’d help me do better as a guy here ?? Idk. But what makes you dislike Greek life here, or why is it lame

First, Greek life just isn’t big here. People play it up to be, hence the loud but small analogy, but UM is not a “frat school”. Go to FSU, Penn State, Bama, Clemson, etc. if you’re looking for dominant Greek life. We live in Miami, a city with perhaps the best nightlife in the world. There just isn’t a need to be in a frat here. I can assure you IU has a much more vibrant Greek life than we do.

Transfer only if you are looking for better academic path. Wide variety of frats to rush for. Don't make it too much of your time though.

Transfer. Miami or Bloomington coming from someone who almost went there. Not disappointed with Miami one bit.

That’s what I was thinking.. the cities don’t really compare. I already speak Spanish and like the Miami culture but Like what would you say are the pros and cons of the U especially from a guys perspective ?

If you are coming here to pull then know if you pull at iu you'll pull here and if you don't you probably won't here.

other than that, not sure "beaches and speaking spanish" is a good reason to transfer here

A total disappointment is what you’re gonna find. Only 5 of the frats have houses and the other ones have “suites”. They are never able to throw parties at the houses and when they do which is a rare occasion they can only have beer and it has to be a registered party.
