No.

The majority of fraternities do not have houses. Also having houses or not doesn't seem to make a difference in terms of desirability or social ranking.

I'm going to be honest. A lot of times it is the chapter forcing sophomore guys to live in the house to have a "campus presence." A lot of times guys in Sig Chi or Pi Kapp would rather live in Red Road woth their friends in Sig Ep or be near their girlfriends. Also there's a ton of rules in on campus housing that are wack. A lot of bros would rather just live off campus and not worry about their bongs.

You’ll never know how much more fun greek life is with a house. This sounds like a lot of rationalizing. Future rushes you are cutting your experience way short if you join a frat without a house

Living in a frat house is usually competitive and sought after. I don’t know what the person above me is talking about. Also having a house is very important to a fraternity regardless of what anyone tells you. You get a central location where everyone congregates, more parties, can go anytime and have something to do etc etc. not having a house is like joining a social club. Off campus houses DO NOT make up for it and we all have them
