to the girls who dropped...why you should regret it
by: bobCongrats to all the girls who received bids and pledged sororities. Here is what matters more than superficial ranks. As a sister you now have a great base of new friends and the added bonus of girls with whom you can network after college. You have many opportunities for leadership both within your sorority and in Panhel. You have a house to go to when you return as an alum, and you have opportunities for service if so inclined. You also have a lot more opportunities to attend all sorts of parties both through mixers hosted by your sorority and with others, as well as the chance to meet more people in the Greek community as a whole. You have a great support system. Tiers mean nothing in the real world (3-½ yrs away) and nothing to most people on grounds. Take a look at the numbers of the people posting and voting on this website - a minority compared to students on campus. All things considered, you are in a better place than those who dropped and than those who are hung up on who's sorority is better than the next.

Agree with your last statement about being in a better place than those hung up on who’s sorority is better, but definitely wrong to assume girls in a sorority are better off than those who decided it wasn’t for them. For some Greek life is a great addition to college life, and for others dropping will come to be the best decision they made.
Someone in Greek life can have a way better college experience than someone not. Guess what? Someone not in Greek life can also have a way better college experience than someone in Greek life. You don’t need a frat/sorority to have close friends and party.
