honest question
by: RushSo I'm thinking about going through sorority recruitment next year, (I'd be a sophomore) and I was just wondering what it was like. I think I could be happy in any sorority, but I honestly want to know what matters/helps during rush. Are looks/instagram followers actually super important? Also, does family money or letters of Rec matter (they're super important at schools in the south), and is partying before rush held against you? Obviously I'm not from Miami and sororities here are a little old fashioned so I just want to know what it's like at the U

lots of people run as soph
you probably would be happy in any sorority-- they're all pretty similar when it comes down to it
being able to hold a conversation and looking presentable/trendy is important
looks are important to most, not gonna lie
insta followers isn't really important
family money matters to some
you don't need a letter of rec (barely anyone has them)
partying before rush is totally normal unless you piss a girl in another sorority off (then that's bad and you might get blacklisted from her sorority)

I rushed a sophomore and there were plenty of other girls who did it too, it's really pretty common. I was sort of glad I did it sophomore year because when I rushed I already had a group of friends so it felt like there was a little less pressure. Obviously if you're shooting for top tier looks are super important, but in general just trying to look your best and being upbeat while you're talking to sisters will get you a long way. It can be nerve wracking but at the end of the day most girls are really glad they did it

yesss agreed also a smile goes a long way during rush, and ik it can suck if your feet hurt or a sorority you really liked drops you but definitely try make sure you look excited and happy to be there.
