It is with deep regret that Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Fraternity Council announces that Delta Kappa Chapter at the University of Miami will suspend chapter operations at the end of the 2017–18 academic year. Delta Kappa Chapter, established in 1938, was the first National Panhellenic Council organization at the University of Miami. More than 1,700 outstanding women have been initiated into Delta Kappa Chapter. Many have gone on to be leaders on campus, in their communities, and within Kappa Kappa Gamma.

For many years, the Fraternity has worked closely with Delta Kappa Chapter to provide dedicated support. Although the chapter has worked hard to increase membership, its current numbers have reached an unsustainable level.

As a result of the declining membership numbers, Delta Kappa Chapter has informed the Fraternity that it wishes to cease chapter operations at the end of this academic year. Fraternity Council respects the chapter’s decision and has voted to suspend chapter operations, effective May 2018. Kappa intends to re-establish the chapter per the National Panhellenic Conference’s membership growth plan, which will be filed with the University of Miami’s Greek Life Office.

Over the next several months, the Fraternity will work with Delta Kappa Chapter to help each member enjoy a meaningful Kappa experience. All chapter members in good standing at the end of the school year will be granted alumna status and may continue to experience a lifetime of sisterhood through participation in alumna activities.

Fraternity Council would like to acknowledge the dedication and sisterhood demonstrated by the collegiate and alumna members of Delta Kappa Chapter as well as the local advisers, House Board members, and the many volunteers who have supported the chapter throughout the years. We would also like to recognize the support and partnership provided by the University of Miami. The Fraternity is deeply appreciative of everyone who contributed their time and talents to Delta Kappa Chapter.
