Alpha Sigma Tau (AST)(top tier). Hands down best sorority at uml. really close sisterhood, fun to party with, and are the most involved girls on campus. They are organizing walk a mile in her shoes the first week of school.

KY. They are ok, not really social though. A little socially awkward, they are getting better though. They are really pushy when it comes to recruiting girls, and if you decide not to pledge one semester they just stop being your friend.

Alpha Omega(AO)- they are a small local sorority, on the decline. They have maybe half a dozen girls.

Confucius says all of the sororities have unique qualities about them.
With AO, they are kind and helpful and are willing to get the task at hand done. They are about quality, not quantity. They are involved with a lot and are work hard with their letters.
KYs are also involved and I have seen them all around and they look like they have a good time doing what they do.
ASTs are good at getting to know both the male and female populous. They are a little pushy when it comes to recruiting but I assume that their strong personalities get the job done

AST: Top Tier - largest organization on campus, make themselves known in every situation in a positive way, very good about be active in school and other events, always put their best foot forward and look to recruit different girls.

KY: Mid Tier - very diverse, less known and noticed, some are very nice while others are very harsh and unwelcoming, pushy with recruitment.

AO: Bottom Tier - dieing out, "misfits", very nice individuals but as a whole theyre very cliquey.

I think top tier and whatever all depends who is judging.
AST put in a large class to try to be like their other nationals and Greek life at UMass is small and isn't ready for chapters to have 60 members in it. Their new girls didn't know everyone in the organizations they are joining which made them look silly. They are very nice, however are cliquey and don't all like each other. KY is very diverse and I don't really see them around much except when recruiting and they are extremely blunt about wanting girls to join. Some are nice and some just ignore you. AO has gotten bigger and they make me feel comfortable, their very non judgemental. They do just keep to themseleves when I see them which can either mean they actually like each other or just don't wanna bother with other people I'm unsure but isn't that why they joined to have a family? They aren't very girly and overall have a tomboy look so people look them over for looks.

AST is the top tier. They're a national with about 100 chapters across the country. They're the most involved with the school and have some of the best looking girls. There are a lot of them which can be overwhelming in such a small Greek community but more girls only make them more well known on campus. They are a little cliquey in their group but they seem
To have friends in other organizations. Most fraternities tend to try to have their back to school rush parties with them.

KY is middle tier. They're a very small national organization with maybe 10 chapters in the new England area. They're very nice individually but somewhat pushy as a group. Very culturally diverse. There's supposedly a lot of internal drama, but they all outwardly seem to get along. There are about 30 of them now.

AO is a very small local organization (12-15), definitely the bottom tier. They keep to themselves and are a bit awkward. You wont find any American beauties here either. They do have a house which is cool and they have a few nice girls, but as a whole they behave like a fraternity and not in a good way.

The point of sorority life is that each sorority has its own ranking based on what a newcomer may think of them. Many women may seek to join a particular organizations after they get to know what that organization does.
AST is the only sorority on school that has a nation wide national affiliation, however this does not make them any more superior to the others. AST also did not recruit & put through a lot of members in order to meet national standards, as a whole it was taking advantage of the new re-establishment of greek life on the UML campus as a whole. AST is a sorority with high academic standards, which is often why most of the women will not be seen at fraternity parties. Almost all are working, volunteering in various projects, or both outside of mandatory sorority events.
KY has national affiliation, although it is regional. They are a group of women who do tons and TONS of philanthropic work for the community, participating in many different projects and raising money often for different events. Although they are smaller, they have no more or less involvement in things that the other sororities on campus. They do recruit hard, & do have a challenging process, but this makes them no less different than other organizations. They are dedicated to their sorority both while in school and beyond graduation.
AO is smaller than the other sororities, but an organization doesn't need to be large. They are always kind and always willing to lend a helping hand
