real question!

by:

So I met Gamma Phi, Pi Phi and Alpha Chi Omega at orientation and they were all super friendly :)

I'm going to be studying biology, I plan on myself being very involved (maybe joining cheer) and I had a 3.8 in high school. I see that there is a lot of bad on this site and all I wanted to ask is if someone can give me the pros and cons of each of these sororities? Also out of these three which has the best GPA and focus on academics??

Thanks!

I'm giving you the best advice possible okay? Get off this website and just go through recruitment and meet all the girls. When I was an incoming freshman going into rush I was so sure that I knew which sorority I wanted and I thought I knew the stereotypes but once I actually went through recruitment the top choice became irrelevant after I met the chapter that was truly for me. Just because a sorority is "top house" doesn't mean it's good for you. If you fake your way in, you're just going to be left out of your pledge class and not get along. This happens in EVERY SINGLE sorority. I'm not even going to say it doesn't happen in mine because it does, and also in my friends sorority. See who you get along with and keep an open mind

Adding to my last message:

For academics being in one sorority isn't going to make you smarter or dumber. In every sorority there's girls with 4.0's and girls with 2.0's

I disagree. I think being in a sorority with a higher GPA requirement would encourage you to do better in school. If a sorority has a 3.0 GPA requirement you'll be forced to keep your grades up, whereas if a sorority has a 2.0 requirement, you don't really have to try hard.

Even if the sorority has a higher gpa requirement, there are still girls in said sorority with low gpas. On average, sorority and fraternity members have a higher average gpa than the normal college student, so I don't think that should be a priority when choosing an organization. First and foremost we are here for school, so everyone is trying to do well anyway. Plus every sorority has girls in different majors, so there are always older sisters to help you out!

literally the only sorority commitment there is is to go to Monday meetings lol. No one forces you to go out and party. Your grades are your responsibility

Sorry but you should not be looking on this website to begin with. Nobody will give you an unbiased answer. If you have questions regarding a particular sorority, you can contact them. Recruitment is where you learn about each sorority at UCR, and the questions you have would be excellent to ask the sisters when you go through it. Please keep an open mind when going through recruitment, as the posts on this site can easily lead you to have misconceptions of the sororities. My advice to you is to get off this website and get excited for recruitment. :)

why are you asking us? your basically asking us to give you a sorority to join and thats insane. you need to go sign up for recruitment and let your mind do the deciding. and by the way, recruitment is a mutual process, you might want them but they might not want you js

Gamma Phi
Pros: Pretty well known and they win in sports week. They have the most attractive girls.
Cons: Arrogant at times. Not the brightest. There's not that many smart GPhi's essentially. They aren't Greek community orientated

Pi Phi
Pros: Really strong nationals from what I've heard. They are kind hearted girls who are driven. They also have a really close sisterhood
Cons: They don't party that much. They are constantly being bad mouthed for their new member process.

Alpha Chi Omega
Pros: Tight sisterhood. They won Chapter of the year several times. They are close to one another. They have cute girls.
Cons: Party attitude. Sometimes they can be sloppy. And guys think they are too.

I'd say that no one really knows who has the "best" GPA and for what you feel I think you should look at other sororities out there like Kappa and SK because having your mind set on only three is bad just like everyone else said.

You are really dumb for posting this for a pnm. All your cons are general. Corrections for above: Gamma phi has a lot of smart and academically focused girls, just like every other org. Pi phis do party. Just like every other sorority, there are girls that go out and some that don't, and I've never heard anything bad about their new member process?? Alpha chi - you will find sloppy girls in every sorority, and no guy thinks that a sorority is sloppy as a whole just because there are some that are.

alpha chi omega and tight sisterhood are two words that don't go together at all.

Yeah there's sororities bashing on each other but deep down I know ALL of them know that their chapter goes through the EXACT same problem. Every sorority has their fair share of sloppy party slip ups, slip ins in their pledge class, drama between sisters, academic problems. Don't be stupid and be like wow I luv this sorority!!! Just because they left a heart emoji on your Insta pic. Social media is so decieving. Just go through recruitment
