Anyone know the story with kappa sigma. I'm confused with all the comments in here. Are they on campus? What happened to them? Will they be back soon?
?
#1by: Actually...
Kappa Sigma is recognized nationally but is not chartered on UCR's campus. Therefore they aren't allowed to participate in any IFC or FSIC sponsored events. They aren't allowed to associate, as an organization, with any other organization on campus, aka you won't see them having socials with sororities on campus. You'll see them in letters because the university can't prohibit them from wearing them, but FSIC organizations have been asked not to acknowledge their presence. It sounds brutal but that's the same treatment organizations receive when they're on probation or kicked off campus.

The riverside chapter of Kappa Sigma is doing what every Kappa Sigma chapter around the nation is doing. They're doing to force their way onto campus/into IFC through illegitimate means, not going through the usual routes/channels. They an illegitimate organization that isn't recognized by UCR or IFC at UCR. They're allowed to wear letters but other than that can't party with UCR sororities or throw actual social events. They dirty rush people and lie to them to get them to join without telling them the truth of their organization.
