midwesterners in the south?

Hey y'all, I'm a senior in high school and I'm seriously considering Auburn for college! I like to think that I'm pretty southern at heart and I definitely dress pretty 'preppy' but I'm from Iowa. Ive also considered Ole Miss but I've talked to several people that go there and they all said that people there don't really accept northerners and that I would get cut from the majority of the sororities because of where I'm from/ I don't have any 'connections'. Is the same true for Auburn?
