about oos students

by:

I realize OOS students have it a little harder in Greek life and in general. These guys and girls chose Auburn over colleges that are closer to home. They are also paying $40,000+ to be here. It would be nice to extend some extra Southern hospitality to them. That's all. Thanks for reading. <3

their parents are paying $40,000+ (unless, of course, they have a scholarship). But yes, you do make a good point to be nice to them. But, hopefully, everyone can just be nice to everyone regardless of where they are from. OOS students aren't entitled to 'extra' southern hospitality however.

Perhaps you are right....not extra because I do think all of us at AU are family and treat each other as such. I just hate to see students being excluded from some Greek organizations due to hometowns. I've met some excellent OOS people the past few weeks which inspired me to write this post.

and...trust me....no one is paying 40K for an Auburn degree. 99% of OOS are on scholarship. Usually they failed to gain admission to another, more competitive school.

Clearly you haven't ever heard of student loans. Because I am paying my way with student loans, not my parents.

Student loans don't make the tuition decrease.

AND... The scholarship was taken from an in-state student.

There are separate scholarships for in and out of state.
