gpa requirements?

by:

Just so I can get a general idea of GPA cuts... Does anyone know any of the GPA cuts for each sorority? I saw on DZ's website it was a 3.4; but didn't see any others. Personally I have a current 3.5 and should be close to a 3.6 come graduation, and are concerned I won't be up to some of the girls standards academically.
Thanks tons!

Anything around 3.5 should be enough for any sorority.

Would a 3.0 be ok?

I think the bottom GPA for "most" sororities is 3.2

Honestly there's nothing you can do about it now. Just get your recs together and keep an open mind. Connections will help if you have them but you might face heavy cuts first round.

I honestly don't mean this as mean but when I first read this my first thought was "how does someone with a 29 ACT only have a 3.0?" Others may think the same and wonder if someone was either over involved in school or just didn't care. (I'm not saying that's the case-just that people may wonder). Some sororities may only go by that gpa as the cut off. Just do the best you can for a strong finish and emphasize on your resume any scholarship you may have gotten based off ACT score.

Why do you think a 29 ACT is so spectacular? I had a 33 with a 3.86 unweighted GPA, 5.37 weighted. . At my school I was not in the top 10% and a 33 was considered low.

A 33 is not low... it is the top 1 percentile for the ACT

Also what school did you go that had above a 5.0 scale?

If a school is on a 4.0 scale and a person takes AP or IB classes their weighted GPA will be higher than a 4.0 hence the 5.... Also, the poster was not saying a 31 was low but that at their school it was low compared to other students. The poster is probably an out of state private prep school grad.
