Is it best to live on campus if you're planning on joining a sorority?

I think having the sororities so close together in the Village dorms is why Auburn's panhellenic is so strong. The girls from each sorority have great friendships because everyone sees one another more often and basically live together. There are a handful of girls that come on this site and say mean things, but for the most part everyone gets along.

I am considering transferring to Auburn. I haven't gotten in touch with my chapter here about affiliating (because I'm not 100% about coming), but if I were to be able to affiliate would I be asked to live on campus?

No, at his point most sororities have their list of girls and officers that will live on the floor. Honestly, not everyone that wants to live on the floor is allowed to due to space. If a sorority has several scholarship girls plus officers required to live on the floor there isn't much room for rising sophomores to actually live on the floor. Of course there is overflow, which often is pretty much another sorority floor for some sororities on campus.
