frustration
by: TransferOk, so I transferred to Auburn from a school in Texas last year where I was a member of a greek organization. I transferred into the chapter here and all I can say is that the greek attitude here is pathetic. In schools back in my home state, it was Greeks unified vs GDIs, as they continually tried to shut the system down. We loved it when other fraternities and sororities got better because it made the system stronger. The more "top tiers" the better. Here, all y'all want to do is make these exclusive "top" groups and not let anyone else in even if they deserve it. If another sorority or fraternity fits the criteria of a "top" group, then all y'all freak out and degrade the crap out of them because they're not a "traditional top group." Dang, if a sorority or fraternity is recruiting like a top tier, socializing like a top tier, involved like a top tier, or hanging with other top tiers, then I think it's safe to say they're a top tier! Who are we to shoot them down? Stop being critical, stop being jealous, stop being competitive, and unify as a greek community! Stop hurting what could be one of the best greek lives in America. War Eagle!

The thing about Auburn is that we don't have houses, and we don't have an intense battle with the outside system. GDI's don't care one way or another if you're Greek or not. Hell, most GREEKS don't really care if you're Greek or not. while I agree that we need to stop being critical and come together as a community, one of the downsides of not having a common enemy is that we turn to each other.

This is very true. Also true that greeks and gdis don't oppose each other as much at Auburn. The bitterness in our greek system does need to change badly though. You usually know who the top fraternities and sororities are by asking the opposite gender in the greek system. Girls are (for the most part) unbiased about fraternity rankings and vice versa. Whereas fraternities will bash each other to promote their own group and the same goes for sororities. This is optimized on this website, where you can't say a thing good about a group without being called out for "self ranking" or "bias" even if the accusation is completely false. Honestly, Greekrank needs to be destroyed in my opinion.

I believe if we were being completely unbiased about the entire tier thing at Auburn, the tiers would look a lot different. I define a top tier as one that is has top tier quality in at least a couple of categories (Member quality/rush success, involvement, social, sisterhood/brotherhood, strength of name). I believe it should look like this.
Sororities
Top Tier:
AGD, ADPi, Phi Mu, KD, Chi O, Pi Phi, AXO
Upper Middle:
ZTA, Tri Delt, DZ, AOPi, GPB
Lower Middle:
DG, AXiD, SK, KKG
Bottom:
Theta
Fraternities
Top:
Fiji, SN, Beta, OX, SAE, KA, FH
Upper Middle:
ATO, SP, LXA, Sig Ep
Lower Middle:
Pi Kapp, Phi Delt, Pike, AGR, DSig, DTD, Phi Tau
Bottom:
Everyone else - I don't know all of the fraternities as well.

No one asked ANYONE to rank ANY groups on here. I doubt very seriously someone transferred here and found the Greek life "pathetic". Get real. This is not Animal House with the Greeks Vs. GDI's or all the Greeks fighting each other any more. Most sorority girls as a whole date, or have dated GDIs, same as the fraternities. So what there are no sorority houses. You're only here for 4 years as a Greek member and there are beautiful sorority rooms and halls. I see all the sororities getting along with each other and many have best friends outside their own groups. No one needs to be so closed minded. Come and enjoy college, meet new people and don't prevent yourself from going outside your own group. If you do, you'll miss out on some great friendships and maybe even that perfect soul mate. It is 2014, not 1970. If you are worried about what fraternity or sorority you are arguing with or competing against, you have wayyy too much time on your hands.

You prove my point. I'm not an AXO and you exemplify the problem here. Instead of supporting the post, you go straight to framing a sorority.
