shotgun bidding refers to bidding guys just to get the fraternities numbers up (I could be wrong though). I don't know for sure if there is a limit. I though IFC limited each fraternity to a max of 50 accepts but I know that some had 54 or so, most likely due to the largest incoming freshman class in Auburn history. So, the 50 rule may not be a set number just a "recommendation". If anyone can answer I'd be interested to know as well.
