out of state?
by: flagirlI'm from Florida and just toured auburn and really want to attend next year. How open are sororities to out of state girls? And do your recs have to be from members of the sorority chapters at auburn or can they be from a member of the same sorority from a different school? Thanks! :)

If you are from out of state you won't know anyone and will be a huge disadvantage. Its likely you will be cut from most houses so don't plan on getting a bid from any sororities here. There are plenty of non-greek organizations to get involved in. Good luck.

There are many OOS girls who pledge at Auburn! If your recs come from your home town, you will have a better chance of pledging. My sorority requires recs to be from home town alums, although there are exceptions. Sororities that pledge local girls and Alabama girls probably will not look at you seriously, but most groups will consider all qualified PNMS. Good luck.

I was out of state and had no recs! i knew absolutely no one going into rush and i ended up with full schedules after almost every round. just be yourself and you will end up exactly where you are supposed to be. Some sororities are more open to out of state girls than others thats for sure, but my sorority is not bottom tier in the least and we have so many out of state (and out of region) girls!
