I was wondering if is it easier to get into Chi Omega if you are a legacy? Are you almost guaranteed a bid?

I know for a fact that a number of sororities have to get permission from nationals to bot accept you. That is a FACT. If chi O is one of these i do not know.

There are a ton of legacies out there for every sorority. There are no guarantees anywhere.

legacies come through for most group to EVER guarantee a bid. Most nationals just say that a sorority should invite a legacy back for the first party as a favor to the mother or sister of the legacy....no on HAS to take anyone, nor is there any such rule that dictates such a decision. To not invite back after the first invitational is normal, after the second invitational, then many sororities DO have rules about informing their national and perhaps the relative involved. (Legacy can be tricky as some groups do not consider anyone other than a mother or sister as a direct legacy and anyone else would only just be a distant legacy connection.)

As an alumni and active in district and national greek events, I can tell you that the concept of legacies has lost meaning. The bigger greek campuses such as Auburn put little if any emphasis on legacies and that is a shame. In the smaller schools, those sororities see legacies as part of the sisterhood bond and unless you are a total tool will offer you a bid. Given, at Auburn they will at least introduce you to the key officers, but that is as far as it goes. I wish the greek organizations will go back to their founding members concept of what a greek organization is and should be. In my opinion, a legacy should mean something.

So glad to know women of stature in you sorority creep on GR. Classy....not. Really?!? I am on this site to fight the degrading posts made about Auburn's great sororities....but, you are here to inform us all on Auburn ChiO's legacy policy? No, just no.

Horrible reputation for cutting top legacies, even excellent in-house legacies. Their national does not care what this chapter does, so they do whatever. Result is random girls who like the power, but who have downgraded this chapter. Falling fast!

Chi O dropped a TON of legacies on the first day, usually its a common courtesy to keep them until philanthropy but they sure didn't this year

I'm a legacy who went Chi Omega this year. Here is how it works:
They guarantee to keep you through the first round (you will get asked back from philanthropy round).
After that, you're just like everyone else. They DO NOT have to take you in they ask you back for pref round.
