I have a 2.97 gpa, even if I know some people in the sororities, will it still significantly lessen my chances of getting a bid at all?

Many sororities have an official cut off of 3.0 but there are many girls below that number that get a bid. Auburn admits a lot of students with GPAs below a 2.97. You'll be fine.
