Chi O and AGD offered so many bids this year. It was a lot more girls doing rush, but maybe they are branching out and not being as exclusive.

The smaller the PC=/= the better the return rate. How do you people come up with this nonsense?

A smaller the pledge class would be an indication of a chapter’s miscalculation during their ranking of PNMs on their bid list.

What probably happened was that the chapters were given a ball park estimate of what quota would be, and AGD ordered the lower of the numbers for their bid day goodies. I imagine when Panhellenic updated the quota estimate they ordered more gifts that will arrive soon. It happens sometimes if you don’t take the higher number and order extras.

I don’t know if I buy that. With a record breaking number of PNMs I would expect sororities to over order to be prepared. Nobody wants to not meet quota since that’s perceived as “bad” so I would think they’d order plenty to plan high.

That is not correct. The quota number is the same for all sororities after pref when they make their lists. That doesn't mean they will all end up the same number of pledges in the end after the quotas are filled and the remaining PNMs are assigned, but the majority will be fairly close. Go look up the numbers. There were 1735 PNMs that accepted bids on bid day in 2023. That would be 96 per sorority. There were 1785 new members added overall in the fall semester of 2023, that would be 99 per sorority. Obviously, some of those were COB or whatever, but regardless that comes out to 96-99 new members per sorority on average in fall 2023. If you dig in, 14 of the 18 sororities added 99 or more. There were only two below 92. You mention one of them at 54 new members, so I have no idea where you are getting your information. I also have no idea where people come up with the lower the number for a pledge class the better. Out of thin air I guess. As far as attrition, retention, or whatever you want to call it goes, all sororities grew from fall 2022 to 2023 (average of 20 or 30), because the pledge classes were larger than the graduating classes in 2022 for the most part due to higher PNM numbers. The average member "loss" for all sororities was around 10 from fall 2023 to spring, due primarily to December graduations, which shows none of them were facing much in the way of attrition. AGD, who was specifically mentioned above, was fourth highest in numbers in the fall and fourth highest in the spring. I'm not sure where you all are getting this attrition and retention stuff. Members graduated in the spring, which is desired, so where AGD or any other sorority started in 2024 depends on how many graduated, graduated early, etc... I'm not sure how anyone could make graduating, mush less graduating people early, a negative. You people are just trying to make something up.

Are y’all even in sororities! I think you are confusing RFM and quota.

Quota is basically the number of PNMs who sign their MRABAs divided by the number of chapters. 100 PNMs sign MRABAs, there are 5 chapters, quota is 20. Quota is the same for all chapters. Quota additions will vary, which is why everyone doesn’t have the same number of new members.

RFM determines how many PNMs your chapter can ask back and it IS based on historical data. A sorority that has a higher return rate over X amount of years, 2 or 3, ( everyone wants to go back there) will have to release more girls.
