Rushing as a Transfer Student

by: PNM

Hi, I am becoming a sophomore at Auburn University and I transferred from a Community College 40 minutes away. I didn’t have the strongest GPA in High School. But since Community College I have a 3.7 GPA. Will that allow me to get into sororities like Alpha Gam,Chi Omega,ADPI,Alpha Chi?
Are there grade requirements?

just wanted to let you know those chapters dont take sophomores. dont expect to get into a top chapter like ADPI or AGD without connections. a lot of those chapters have members that are following pnms they wants already. alpha chi will realistically will drop you by pref. chi o might not give you a bid even though they are struggling. you should go in with an open mind. you might reach them grade wise, but do you have involvement? the money? the connections? some chapters dont take sophomores or even transfers.
unless you are top house material, you won’t end up in a top house.

Rec letters don’t get you a bid. If you aren’t top material, you wont go top. You need an in-house connection. Most of those sororities already know who they’re giving bids to and chances are you might not be one of them. You need to be open to other sororities

Good for you for getting your grades up since high school. That will help you. Getting recs never hurts one bit and shows you are interested enough in a house to take the trouble and they are noticed, so why not do all you can do.

Be confident at every house and don't let people like the other commenters on this thread discourage you. Keep an open mind to all houses but don't get the idea that you're already getting cut from a house before you go there, it will affect you and be a self-fulfulling prophesy.

While sororities all have a list of pnm's they are interested in, nothing is set in stone and sororities are ALWAYS looking for pnm's that show up and impress. That could be you, transfer or not. Also someone's ignorant and insecure if they're mentioning money to get into a sorority. Don't let the trolls on here get you down.
