what should i do?
by: Question?I am a PNM coming through recruitment this August and I am double legacy for one of the houses. Some of the girls in this house that I have never met have been contacting me and asking me to come get lunch with them or go out with them on the weekends. One even sent me a coozie with their letters on it. My mom who was in the same house when she went to Auburn is encouraging me to do so. I was really hoping to keep an open mind during recruitment since my mom and my sister's personalities are very different from mine, and im not sure that I would fit into their sorority. I'm worried that the sorority that Im a legacy for might blacklist me to other sororities so that none of the other sororities invite me back or give me a bid. What should I do?

Okay... that sorority is hard core dirty rushing you. I would be VERY careful accepting invitations for lunch or any gifts... especially if these are girls you do not already know WELL. That is completely against the rules.. Check the AU Panhellenic site and you'll see what I mean.
If a sorority were to "blacklist" you... It wouldn't work. We all know that other sororities want the same girls we are fighting to have and no one is going to trust what another sorority has to say about someone right now.
Again, BE VERY CAREFUL with the decisions you make about this. YOU could end up being kicked out of recruitment for this.

& be careful who you tell this info to.. You might end up getting that sorority and/or yourself in trouble.
PS - glad your trying to keep an open mind! I was a legacy at a sorority when I rushed and I know the pressure from your family to be the same as them! I'm sure they'd rather yo be happy in another sorority than unhappy in theirs.

These girls need to have a fair shot at deciding which sorority is right for them. Being bribed by gifts and free lunches isn't quite what I would call fair, and I think that type of behavior definitely gives some groups an unfair advantage.
