A friend of mine says that since submitting her registration, she has had a bunch of current sorority girls (mostly from her home town) start following her on IG. Does this mean anything? She thinks it means possible interest from the sorority, but I think she might be reading into it too much. Thoughts?

Of course it's possible interest, with emphasis on possible. It's nothing to count on though and she should take it with a big grain of salt.

Just girls following on Instagram to make sure there’s nothing alarming doesn’t mean that she will get a bid or even get invited back on philanthropy

It does not necessarily mean they’re interested in her. It just means they want to get a better feel of who she is and see if there’s any red flags.

It means those sororities want girls to not rank them low but then they’ll turn around and cut the pnm
